Linder Boats

The
Linder story, like many other fairy tales, begins with a ”Once upon
a time…” The remainder of this tale is a true story about a slightly
built youth by the name of Lars-Göran, who fished for perch in the
nearby lake, using his father’s rowboat. Despite being raised a long
way from the salty brine of the high seas, a yearning for life at
sea was still aroused. Whereupon father and son built a wooden kayak
in the hen house. This was followed by a proper, single-seat
outboard racer.
The youth then became interested in water-skiing and at no more than
20 years of age, he designed and constructed a plastic boat to meet
with his own top speed requirements. The boat aroused a mixtur of
curiosity, jealousy and admiration, so much so that prospects began
knocking on the hen house door.
Among abandoned egg-laying coops, one or two new boats saw the light
of day every winter, which eventually convinced Lars-Göran to set up
a business. It initially produced fibre-glass canoes. A couple of
years later, two people were employed in the business, while in
1974, the company expanded beyond the size of its premises. With 7
employees in a new location, they were at the forefront of the canoe
boom that exploded at the end of the seventies. Not long after, they
sold 2,000 Canadian canoes a year, as well as a number of other boat
models.
It was during this expansive era that the family name, Linder,
established itself as a mainstream brand. About this time, the
company also discovered the potential offered by aluminium alloys.
Lars-Göran travelled twice to the United States to find a worthwhile
product to import. But he found nothing worthwhile to put the Linder
label on. He went his own way instead and manufactured his own range
of aluminium canoes that sold like hotcakes. In the first year
alone, 1981, the company had a turnover almost 100 per cent greater
than the projected budget, putting the Linder brand at the to of the
canoe-manufacturing sector.

Linder
launched its first aluminium rowboat in 1983, the Linder 410, a
small classical model that was followed up by the Linder 440, which
is currently one of Europe’s best sellers. With one success story
after the other for almost 40 years, Linder is now in a position to
meet the challenge of the high seas.
The well-known family brand, Linder, now has the pleasure of
launching the Arkip 460.
